Welcome! I am a speech-language pathologist and hold a PhD in neurophysiology. For 34 years I worked as a research scientist at the Institute of Brain Research of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

Alongside other research, I studied the causes and mechanisms of stuttering and its treatment. Combining research with hands-on clinical work helped me find more effective techniques for treating stuttering.

People who stutter — and the families who love them — often turn to medical institutions, private specialists, and the internet searching for answers. Sadly, much of the advice they receive does not help. Some of it can actively cause harm.

Parents of children who stutter are frequently told: "Try not to let on that you've noticed," "Only praise your child when they speak fluently," "Don't interrupt," "Slow your own speech down — but don't tell the child to slow down or take a deep breath."

All of this allows stuttering to progress unchecked. In some popular films, treatment methods are so distorted that imitating them can make stuttering worse.

My research and my experience working with hundreds of patients have led me to one firm conviction: stuttering can be overcome by anyone who is willing to invest the time and effort. The requirements are daily practice and consistent self-monitoring throughout the entire treatment period.

It is worth noting that almost all traditional treatment methods improve speech to some degree. The problem is that after a course ends, speech often returns to its previous level. This is so discouraging that many people give up and resign themselves to the idea that stuttering is incurable. My advice: do not give up. Keep seeking information and keep trying.

This website is intended for researchers, speech-language pathologists, people who stutter, and anyone curious about the nature, causes, and treatment of stuttering in children and adults. My goal is to share knowledge and experience, to help you understand the pathophysiology and mechanisms of stuttering, and to guide you toward the right treatment strategy.
